With The Gearbox Factory, you are entitled
to FREE oil level checks & top ups for
a whole year when you
have us service your automatic transmission (TQ95 / DEX III fluids).
Automatic
Servicing
Your automatic transmission contains a large quantity of transmission
fluid that lubricates parts, transfers heat and transmits power
to the wheels.
This fluid deteriorates with use and heat. As the oil breaks down,
contaminants form and your transmission will start wearing prematurely.
Modern automatic transmissions are extremely complex and sensitive
to contaminant and sludge build up.
The most effective thing you can do to extend the life of your transmission
and keep it working correctly is to carry out regular Transmission
Flushing to remove contaminants and replace the fluid.
Because we are a specialist workshop, we invest in specialist equipment
to do the job properly. This flushing machine is just one way we
can help you avoid expensive repairs. Your automatic and manual gearbox
should be serviced every 40,000km, or more often if towing. Just
like your engine there is also a filter in your transmission that
may require replacement. When was yours last changed?

on your vehicle you may need to ensure your gearbox is also properly
serviced for any claims to be accepted.
Manual
Servicing
Your
manual gearbox contains oil that is designed to lubricate parts and
transfer heat away from the working components. There are no filters
or cooling systems in a manual gearbox so it is important to change
the oil at the recommended intervals to remove contamination and
replace the "worn out" oil.
Severe damage or premature wear will occur if you do not use quality
oils of the correct viscosity and type. Viscosity is a measure of
how thick (high viscosity) or how thin (low viscosity) oil is. There
are many types of gearbox oils; all suited to particular applications
and gearbox types.
Many gearbox failures are preventable. History shows that worn shift
lever bushes, clutches and incorrect oil are responsible for a significant
number of failures as well as oil leaks. Regular servicing by professionals
can mean these small problems are identified before they become a
major expense.

European
Vehicles & Special Oils
Do you own a European vehicle or one with
a CVT transmission?
We have rebuilt transmissions for customers because the
incorrect oil had been added by a garage that didn't know the specific
requirements. Many transmissions cannot accept anything
but the correct oil and will soon fail if others are used. We carry
a full range of specialty oils and will recommend the correct one
for your application. Contact
us for your particular vehicle >>
Many European vehicles (and now some others as well) have no dipsticks.
The oil level must be checked and adjusted in a specific manor and
requires specialist knowledge. Don't risk it with somebody unfamiliar
with European vehicles; it could result in a major expense.
Differentials & Transfer
Units
As well as automatic and manual gearboxes, we also repair differential
and transfer units on all types of vehicles. Unfortunately many owners
neglect maintenance on these units meaning premature failure. The
cost of a service is a small percentage of a differential rebuild
or replacement. Please Contact Us for a cost estimate for your vehicle.
Cooler
Kits
Over-heating is one of the biggest causes of premature transmission
failure (over 80%) so it makes sense to add extra cooling. We have
a range of cooler units to suit your vehicle and it's intended purpose.
Many factory systems do not supply sufficient cooling, especially
as the vehicle gets older and the radiator unit begins to loose its
efficiency. We strongly recommend cooler units for RVs or any vehicle
that is used for towing. Contact

Additives
Additives can be useful in some circumstances for specific vehicles
and problems. They are used to add various properties to the oil
that it may not have. We carry a full range of transmission and diff
additives and will make recommendations based on our assessment of
your transmission.
